Whereabouts

Filed under: Bessa R2a R3a Leica, cameras, film, digital workflow... — Dave Beckerman @ 8:00 pm

Jury Duty Tomorrow. I called the number on their form and they said that they now allow cellphones with cameras in the courthouse (100 Center). My cellphone is about 25 years old, so I don’t think it has a camera in it yet. Maybe I can tape my cellphone to my Leica and get by.

I guess I could bring my laptop (also ancient but with good wi-fi card). I wonder if there are hot spots you can use in the courthouse? Then I could give you a blow by blow account of my boredom during voir dire.

Sold the Bessa R2A today (use it in good health C.) Sort of sorry to see it go. A good backup for me but I’ve got the two Leicas now so it was bye bye. I need to bring the M3 back and see what’s up with it - now that the shutter on that is acting weird at higher speeds but good at low speeds.

I have heard of jury nullification but thought it was something that wasn’t written into any laws and that it was frowned upon by THE SYSTEM. (Fight the power!)

Am still doing a lot of work with the eBay store. And it is starting to pay off. Today, for the first time, I had two orders through eBay and one order through this site. That’s what I’ve been trying to do.

My new eBay theory is to put up as much as I can in inventory - and then use the auction to try and drive some traffic to the eBay store. Once they get there - they are so mesmerized that they can never leave.

90mm, 6-bit

Filed under: Bessa R2a R3a Leica, cameras, film, digital workflow... — Dave Beckerman @ 10:29 am

Oh - and I did get my 90mm f2.8 from eBay and it is a beauty. Probably in better shape than my own lenses. It is the latest model (sans 6-bit code which I don’t think I’ll be a-needin’) - and it cost me $800. I still sort of think that six-bit thing is weird - six black or white rectangles on the inner ring that the M8 can read. Six-bits - what’s that - 64 possibilities. At $125 a pop, I think I might just get some construction paper and color in some black and white squares and stick ‘em on with some elmer’s glue for the optical reader in the M8. C’mon you guys - you remember how we used to turn over a single-sided 5 and a quarter floppy disk and punch a hole in it so you could flip it over and use both sides. Someone should make some peel and stick thingy with the Leica codes; sell ‘em for $1 a piece, and become a millionaire.
