zenfolio (continued)

“And be assured that with this foundation in place, we are working on extending the E-commerce platform to allow photographers to set their own custom pricing and sell for profit in the near future.” - Zenfolio.com

That’s what I find fascinating. What if I could use their expertise for the design, organizing, cart etc. beckerman.zenfolio.com — wow — that would be great. Especially, and just about only, if they incorporate a paypal cart.

  1. For some reason our corporate firewall blocks Zenfolio. Strange…

  2. Dave, have you looked at zenphoto.org? The gallery is simple and very light - I believe you can even implement a paypal cart into each photo (copy/paste the code). There are also several plugins, including for WordPress. It’s PHP driven and the support forums is excellent. I use it for my site but without the cart. Just for the simple gallery feature, without the bells and whistles. I actually stripped it down a bit - am still working on fitting it to the rest of my site.

    Regards…

  3. Hi Darrell –

Took a quick look at it. The thing is - I Love zenfolio. (And I don’t say that sort of thing about user interfaces often.) The more I use it, the more I like it. It is deserving of the word “robust.” Just for having a concept (old as it is) as access control built in from the ground floor up.

So - I’m in no hurry to switch; plus I’m not sure how that would effect my google rank which is pretty high. But when they offer an interface for a professional to sell through a cart - I will look very closely at it as an alternative to my own paypal / iview media pro created galleries.
